Auditions
My son sings all the time. How do I get him involved in your program?
Auditions for admission to the Northwest Boychoir are held twice yearly in October and February. Boys in first and second grade can audition for the first training choir, Early Preparatory Choir. Boys 8 and 9 years old can audition for our other training choirs. Boys 10 and older with significant choral or musical training may also audition. Audition Information
My son is only in first grade, and the idea of doing an audition scares him.
We understand that auditioning can be intimidating. We have been conducting auditions for 30 years and have learned how to make the process comfortable and even fun for children. Please assure your son that our auditions are done one-on-one so he won’t be singing in front of others. And we encourage parents to be present for the auditions. We keep our auditions short, but focused.
Schedule
I’d like to have my son join the Northwest Boychoir, but I work and can’t drive him to twice weekly rehearsals.
Our members come from all corners of the Puget Sound area, and represent 115 diverse public and private schools. A good number of our members participate in carpools making it convenient for parents who work. Membership rosters make it easy to find families in your neighborhood.
My son plays soccer and wants to join the Northwest Boychoir. Can he join if he has sports conflicts?
The answer in most cases is yes. We understand that students have multiple interests and are involved in sports, church activities and school events. While we stress the importance to making a commitment to our rehearsal schedule, we also understand that occasionally conficts arise and we will work with your son to manage those conflicts.
