Auditions for new members are held twice yearly; February 11, 2012 for our Spring Class and June 2, 2012 for our Fall Class. Auditions are open to boys who will be 6 to 9 years of age at the time of class enrollment. No previous musical training is required. Auditions are by appointment.
Audition appointments are scheduled through the Northwest Choirs office. If you are interested, please contact us by phone at (206) 524-3234 or by Email: nwc@northwestchoirs.org.
Auditions are private and low-key, designed to make those auditioning feel comfortable and relaxed. Auditions are about 15 minutes long, and parents are strongly encouraged to be present.
Those auditioning are asked to prepare a song of their own choice, which will demonstrate voice quality and sense of pitch. The song can be as simple as Happy Birthday, or a familiar holiday carol. A member of the music staff will then take the auditioning boy though a series of music drills to establish a sense of the boy's musical aptitude. The remainder of the audition is spent in conversation with the boy and family to establish a sense of character and potential commitment.
Auditions may take place over several days. When all auditions are completed, the music staff evaluates the candidates to determine status. Results of the auditions are mailed to each family. New classes begin each September and February.
